Girls' Day at the Department of Physics and Astronomy

What is girls' day?

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, it's that time again: numerous companies, businesses and universities throughout Germany invite you to spend a day learning about apprenticeships and courses of study in IT, crafts, natural sciences and technology, fields in which women are still underrepresented. Due to the Corona pandemic, this year's Girls' Day offerings will once again take place predominantly digitally. The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at Heidelberg University is also participating in Girls' Day this year with an exciting digital program.

You don't know about Girls' Day yet? Then take a look at the explanatory film or visit the official Girls' Day website at www.girls-day.de.

We'll join in!

We want to show you that research and experimentation is not just for boys! With our digital Girls' Day program "Physics up close!" we would like to invite you to take a new look at the world of physics. Exciting hands-on workshops await you, you will get to know the faculty and our participating institutes on a virtual tour, you can look over the shoulders of our physicists at work, ask all your burning questions, learn a lot about physics and have a lot of fun.

Are you curious? Then go HERE to the workshop offers...

This is how you can participate

1. School exemption
Talk to your parents and your teacher and ask if you can participate in Girls' Day. The prerequisite is, of course, that you are exempt from school on this day by application.

2. Search for a workshop
On the official Girls' Day website https://www.girls-day.de/Radar or directly HERE you can find all our offers for participation. Here you can browse at your leisure to find out which offer interests you most.

3. Register
If you have found an exciting Girls'Day workshop, you can go directly to the event page at www.girls-day.de via the link provided. Here you must first create a user account and register with your personal data. After that, there's nothing to stop you from registering for the workshop of your choice - as long as there are still places available. If your registration is successful, you will receive a confirmation link to your e-mail address within a few minutes. Only if you click on this confirmation link within 24 hours, are you actually registered! So check your mailbox after registration! If the registration is not confirmed, it will be deleted and the place will be released again. In good time before Girls' Day, you will receive another e-mail with detailed information about your offer (e.g. access data for online events or, in the case of face-to-face events, information about the meeting place and venue). Please make sure that there is enough space in your e-mail inbox for our e-mail to arrive. If you do not receive this e-mail, please let us know in time so that we can resend it if necessary.
