Prof. Dr. Cornelis P. Dullemond, Professor at the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics within the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at Heidelberg University, has been awarded the 2026 Astrophysical Software Award by the Astronomische Gesellschaft (AG). The award recognizes his conception, development, and long-term stewardship of the radiative transfer software RADMC-3D.
RADMC-3D has become one of the leading software packages in astrophysics, enabling researchers to model radiative transfer in gas and dust and to generate synthetic observations for comparison with astronomical data. It is widely used across a broad range of research areas, including protoplanetary disks, star formation, evolved stars, and active galactic nuclei.
The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy warmly congratulates Prof. Dullemond on this prestigious recognition. The award will be presented at the annual meeting of the Astronomische Gesellschaft, to be held in Garching from 7–11 September 2026.
