Heidelberg Success at the Dopplers Competition

30.3.2026

At the German Olympiad in Physics Problem Solving for Enthusiastic Puzzle-Solving Students (“Dopplers”) in Osnabrück, three teams from Heidelberg (or with Heidelberg participation) achieved outstanding placements:

The Flamingos, consisting of Paul Obernolte, Tom Zwick, Dinah Grun, and Jakob Lensch, won the competition. They were followed by Ruprechts Knechte with David Barth (now at Cambridge), Nicolai Vollbrecht, Esra Grathoff (now in Zurich), and Matthias Lotze (now in Zurich).

The team Dresdner Brückenbauer secured third place, ahead of the Heidelberg team “die Spinner” in fourth place, with Damian Gleis, Vojt?ch Votruba, Lutz Leimenstoll, and Arik Küster.

According to the competition rules, the Flamingos, Dresdner Brückenbauer, and die Spinner have qualified for the international Plancks competition in Eindhoven. Teams composed of members from multiple universities are not eligible for qualification, which is why not all highly placed teams can advance.

The faculty warmly congratulates all teams and wishes them the very best of luck at Plancks!
