Starting in January 2026, a new research group led by Dr. Victor Ksoll will be established at Heidelberg University’s Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (ITA). The Carl Zeiss Foundation is funding the five-year project StarForML with a total of €1.8 million through the CZS Nexus program. The group aims to develop advanced machine learning methods to analyze the vast amounts of astronomical data generated by modern observatories, thereby opening up new perspectives on the processes of star formation. This initiative will make an important contribution to data-driven astrophysics.
