New ultracold neutron source SuperSUN

The new ultracold neutron source SuperSUN, delivered by the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) in collaboration with our Department and other scientific partners, is now operating in Grenoble. Its high output and soft energy spectrum open exciting new possibilities in neutron particle physics.

Skyler Degenkolb led development and installation of SuperSUN at the ILL, before coming to Heidelberg in 2021. His research group for Low Energy Precision Physics at the Physikalisches Institut now supports commissioning of the source, and preparation of its flagship user experiment PanEDM.
