SOFT MATTER AND BIOPHYSICS: HARD SPHERES, POLYMERS, AND SOFT RHEOLOGY WITH NOVEL SIMULATION TECHNIQUES

I will start with the physics of hard spheres and related systems and introduce novel Monte Carlo algorithms (event-chain Monte Carlo) for efficient simulations of soft matter. We will proceed to question for liquid crystals and biopolymers, which can also be tackled with these algorithms. Finally, we address elastic materials and discuss how novel methods such as machine learning techniques can be used for rheological analysis.
