Quantum information offers a modern framework for understanding complex quantum phenomena. During this year's HGSFP Summer School, we discover together how quantum information is quantified, processed, and read out, which enables us to characterize entanglement in QFTs and quantum many-body systems.
The first lecture is a crash course in quantum information and entanglement theory, introducing fundamental information measures such as the entanglement entropy.
In the second lecture, we discuss applications and landmark experiments in quantum many-body systems, including local thermalization through entanglement in non-equilibrium dynamics.
During the third and final lecture, we explore quantum information in quantum fields and recent ideas for how to access key predictions such as the celebrated area law of entanglement in quantum field simulators.
We balance theoretical aspects with experimental capabilities and aim for an active format with only minimal prior knowledge presupposed. To deepen your understanding, we provide lecture notes, pen-and-paper and coding homework, and scientific literature.
