One wave to rule (out) them all? On how gravitational waves are challenging generalized scalar-tensor theories (PRETALK for students at 15:30 h)

Dario Bettoni , ITP Heidelberg
The recent detection of gravitational waves from a neutron star-neutron star merger, together with the observation of its associated electromagnetic counterpart, had a strong impact on theories that attempt to explain dark energy with a dynamical field. In this talk I will give a general overview of generalized scalar-tensor theories with particular emphasis on their gravitational waves phenomenology.
