After introducing and motivating generalized symmetries, and spontaneous symmetry breaking, we focus on the latter phenomenon for non-invertible symmetries. These can be further distinguished in discrete, rational and continuous, each case leading to different physics upon breaking. We review in some details two cases: the celebrated case of duality and triality symmetries, that can be broken at the end of an RG flow; and the peculiar case of continuous non-invertible Nambu-Goldstone bosons, that parametrize an orbifold.
