DESCRIPTION:Recent observations show that galaxies assembled rapidly and qu
enched surprisingly early\, challenging existing galaxy-formation models. I
will present a new implementation of the semi-analytic model L-Galaxies wi
 thin Gadget-4\, together with a fast\, parallelised multi-chain calibration
framework.\n\nThe model introduces gas surface-density dependent star form
ation and feedback\, updated stellar and gaseous disc instabilities\, and d
issipative gas-rich mergers. These enable highly efficient star formation i
n dense high-redshift galaxies and provide a more consistent description of
galaxy evolution over (0<z<14). The model boosts the predicted UV luminosi
ty function at 9<z<13 by up to two orders of magnitude and produces massiv
e quenched galaxies as early as z~8\, while retaining good agreement with l
 ow-redshift galaxy abundances\, sizes\, radial profiles\, and metallicities
. These improvements are achieved without modifying the cosmology\, IMF\, o
r underlying AGN-feedback model. However\, the model still struggles to rep
roduce compact and quenched galaxies\, highlighting open questions about th
e formation and evolution of red nuggets and little red dots.\n\n[Talk will
